In the 13 Years BBM (Bears, Bikers & Mayhem) has been around, it’s grown to become one of the largest runs in North America. This explosive fucking growth and with it’s popularity expanding, the event has still maintenance it’s seedy, bass-ackwords fun which all of you who have even gone know exactly what I am talking about.
Needless to say BBM outgrew its previous host hotel years ago. And while Gettysburg serviced us all well, a change in venue was long over due.
Now, my access to insider information is still kind of limited, I am happy to share some details with you that are generally public knowledge. I’ll do my best to also kill some stupid ass rumors that I have heard that are just wrong, like that the even is moving to Florida.
So lets start with the new Host Hotel….
The New House of Mayhem!
During BBM12, it was announced that our new host hotel would be the Delta Hotel Hunt Valley by Marriott in Hunt Valley Maryland. This is a considerable upgrade from where BBM was previously hosted. This property offers multiple dining options on site, in addition to being a full service resort. That alone was always a major short coming of the previous hotel in that access to QUALITY FUCKING FOOD was more than a challenge. Not that many of us take part in solid food during the weekend, it’s just nice to know we have options.
The property is setup as a conference center with at least double the amount of space BBM had previously, in additional to formal ballroom spaces, which means that all events will be contained within the resort. God forbid us kweens need to leave and experience fresh air or anything. The truth of the matter is that when we get to our destination, we all have no desire to fucking leave. So that feed back was for sure taken into consideration when selecting this property.
This hotel also offers better access to different mass transit options like airports and train stations compared to our last location which was basically in a cornfield in bum-fuck no-where.
Next are the rooms. I remember back in the day, one of the first years I personally attended BBM and the first year it was held at the previous hotel, I entered by room, and found that I had a ceiling to floor waterfall that wasn’t featured in the brochure. Ensuring that rooms were in an acceptable condition was always a challenge for a property that seems to always be in some state or another. The Delta will be a welcomes treat professionally managed with proper cleanliness standards.
When do run Run Passes go on sale?
Okay so here is the deal. I have no fucking idea. There is a lot that needs to happen in order to set budgets, security supplies and contracts along with the event planning in general. Here is what I do know:
- Cost — It was always the goal to keep run passes affordable, so there will be a new pricing tier created to allow attendees more options. This way BBM will still remain the best value of any event in our community while providing expanded service offerings (wink wink).
- Sale Dates — Even within the BBM staff the exact date passes will go on sale is a closely guarded secret. What I do know is that it will be soon. The BBM website (bearsbikersandmayhem.com) states that registration will begin in the Summer of 2023 which is right now. If you are a past attendee of the event, I am sure alumni offers will be going out first via email. If you are new to the event or haven’t attended recently, keep an eye on the the BBM website, and also here at boyjoey.com since I will also be making sure everyone knows when it’s time.
What’s going to Change?
With a venue change some of the traditional legacy events are going to evolve, they have too. So much of what an event offers is tided to the location and property. But I know the staff is working hard to keep the fuckery which makes Bears Bikers and Mayhem so much fun. What I do have a lens into to some extent as a member of the Mayhem Legacy wassieness (Mr. Mayhem Leather 2017 remember…) is that the contest will still be a major cornerstone part of the event, and as with previous years contestant applications will also go live sometime in the Winter of 2023/2024.
For now, all we can do is wait, the fucking wheels are in motion — stuff is happening but it takes time. As soon as I know more, I will be happy to share it.
