Not that long ago, my really dear friend Albert lost someone he loved dearly. He and his partner were devastated. Albert has been an incredible long-time supporter of everything ‘Boy Joey’, including my music. He is the one I go to when I need an objective ear, or I have a major creative block and need someone to bounce ideas off. So, I wanted to honor him and his family’s loss in the best way I could.
Fritz’s lyrics speak to loss and being lost, but finding that light that allows you to once again find your way. When we lose someone we love, for a while, we are lost—lost in grief and lost in the longing for their presence. But over time, the trauma of the loss begins to heal, and like waves over water, we find our way back home.
